Repeat Prescriptions

When your doctor has organised a repeat prescription it can be obtained either by bringing the prescription slip to the surgery, or by posting it to us. We cannot accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone or via this web-site.

Repeat prescriptions will be ready for collection after two clear working days. It is your responsibility to let us have your repeat slip in good time. Repeat prescriptions can be mailed back to you on provision of a stamped self addressed envelope, or they can be collected form the surgery or Alford Chemist.

Dispensing

We can dispense only to those living more than one mile from a chemist or pharmacy. Our Dispensary is open at the Surgery from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.  If you require medicines urgently when the surgery is closed, please contact 111.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
